Teaching Adaptive Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis
Chesapeake, Virginia
April 12 - 13, 2008
Sponsored by the Hampton Roads Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the workshop was held at the Lifestyle Center, which is off-site and part of the Chesapeake General Hospital. The facility was perfect for this type of training program. While most of the teachers were from the area, several traveled from northern Virginia and North Carolina. We were also blessed with another teacher who has MS. Since we are learning about MS, it's incredibly valuable to have exposure to first hand experience with this disease. The Sunday morning group included a man who came up to me after and said that he had been practicing yoga with me for 2 years. Curious, since we live in different states. He has been using the video, Yes, You Can Yoga! which is a gentle yoga class lead by me!
Several teachers from this program teach yoga classes for people who have MS with more coming. Check Find Adaptive Yoga Teachers in Virginia.
