"Of all that is wonderful in the human being, our most glorious asset is the capacity to change ourselves." – Eknath Easwaran

Dear Friends,

The grass is still green. In fact, the grass has been green all summer without the browning out that usually happens during the hot, dry days of summer. Children are back at school, some away to college for the first time. Parents breathe a sigh of relieve and perhaps experience the emotions of life passages, for ourselves and for our children.

During the fall we enjoy the harvest time, the fruits of our labors. This would suggest a time of endings but isn't fall also the time for dormancy, the time to prepare the ground for winter so that spring will bring forth new beginnings. So we start things in the fall, inviting seed life to grow slowly from within. Fall is often a time of renewed commitment, a time for learning new things.

This fall, classes will take on a slightly different flavor as we build our practice from the ground up. Each week will focus on a different part of the body, beginning with a balanced and secure foundation (the feet) and ending with meditation and yoga nidra (the head.)

This fall, I will also be offering several workshops to enhance your practice, beginning with the Gayatri Mantra and Yoga workshop on September 23rd and the Koshas: Doorways to Mind, Body and Spirit on October 14th. (This workshop will include material from the training that I will be attending this week.)

I will be at Kripalu for the next 10 days participating in training on the multidimensional aspects of yoga and assisting Amy Weintraub's workshop "Yoga for Depression." I'm looking forward to learning new things that I can share with you. If you have the urge to go to Kripalu, and I hope you will when the time is right for you, please use my teacher referral number YT1195 when you call to register.

Fall classes begin September 11. Some classes fill early so register as soon as you can. (Ledyard Parks & Recreation will be taking registrations starting September 7th.)

Peace and love to you,
Karen
